Lois Lorraine Weeks(Dill) was born to Joseph Samuel Dill and Lelia Maud Dill (Astwood) Lois was the fifth of thirteen children. She was a proud North Shore girl and extremely proud of her ancestry. She attended Central School at fourteen years old and earned a scholarship from St. Monica’s Mission Guild to attend the Berkeley Institute, there she made life long friends. Her years at the Berkeley filled her with pride and she held her Alma Mata in high esteem. Her favorite subjects were English and Home Economics, where she developed a passion for cooking, this helped her to land her first job at sixteen as a cook at the Harrington House in Hamilton Parish.

She appeared to be the apple of her father’s eye he enjoyed her cooking and he asked what would he do once she left home to make her own life with a family. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and writing and if she was unsure about anything she would do the research to get the correct answers. Lois was a stickler for proper speech and always well groomed. She worked for awhile at Royal Gazette than the Hamilton Press for 30 plus years. Lois was not prepared to retire and went to work at the Bank of N.T. Butterfield for 12 years and than officially retired, but the bank called her back for a brief period.

Lois was a go getter it was in her system from her ancestral line. She went to work as a cook for the Sunshine League and for a few years at the Charities Parents anonymous, The Physical Abuse Centre and the Coalition for the Protection of Children. She also assisted her daughter with her business at Immigration Advisory and Consultancy Services (IACS).

Lois was a true believe her faith was strong and she instilled this in her family. Although she started in the Anglican Church like lots of North Villagers she became a stanch member of St. Paul AME Church and became involved in many of their organizations. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. Served on the Senior Usher Board, The Missionary Society, Pastor’s Aid, Stewardess Board and Women’s Day Committee. She took a delight when Service was over on a Sunday to go visiting or just touring with some of her closest friends on many a ferry ride, concerts in the park or lunching in a favorite restaurant.

She was a member of the Orchid Charity Club and a member of the Princess Royal Union Lodge #135 and served as the Treasurer on the Friendly Societies Association for a short span. She gladly organized other members of the Orchids to assist the Bermudian Heritage Association/Museum on their tag days.

Lois loved to travel and took great advantage of her free time to go and relax and enjoy that time in her life travelling to the USA, Africa, Europe and Canada and several Cruises. She was a prayer warrior and her favorite quote of scripture was ‘In all things give Thanks” and “This too shall past.” As some of Lois’s sibling passed on to Glory before her she became mom to many of their children, she left nothing to chance and they showered her with much respect and their love. She was the person who would organize holiday functions to bring the family and friends together. She was never too busy or tired. She sat a faithful example too all who knew her. She was well loved and will be remembered for all her kindness, Love, and sharing of her Time, Talent and Faith. To God Be The Glory. Cuz your rest is well deserved.
